Justin Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire’s relationship was filled with red flags as it reached its breaking point, from the former PM talking about his turbulent marriage in his memoir to the fact that they stopped attending important events together. As a result, the public wasn’t exactly shocked when they learned the couple was separating in August 2023. But Sophie didn’t waste any time moving on after the split—she’s living her best life. In fact, reports say that the former political WAG actually met someone else before she and Trudeau officially announced their breakup.

Later that year, in October, journalist Glen McGregor wrote a piece on his personal Substack and in the National Post discussing Grégoire’s new relationship with a pediatric surgeon named Marcos Bettolli. In 2023, Bettolli filed for divorce from his ex, Ana Remonda, on the grounds that he was in a new relationship and was “re-partnered with a high-profile individual who attracts significant media attention and presents significant security considerations … ”

Given the timing of the breakup announcement, people are wondering if an affair took place and was one of the causes of both Grégoire and Bettolli’s divorce.

McGregor argued in his article that evidence proved Trudeau’s ex-wife to be the “high-profile individual” in question. Another outlet shared photographs that supported these supposedly unbacked rumors months after the report’s online release.

Grégoire and Bettolli were snapped eating together

The Daily Mail published exclusive photographs in February 2024, proving that Grégoire and Bettolli were out on a date. The snapshots showed the two exiting an Ottawa restaurant called Yangtze, located in Chinatown. It turns out this date was more of a family affair since they were joined by Trudeau and Grégoire’s three children, along with two friends. The Daily Mail also reported that Grégoire and Bettolli were living together at Bettolli’s residence at the time these photos were taken.

Like Grégoire, Bettolli has children from his previous marriage. When these photos were taken, Bettolli was reportedly still dealing with the aftermath of his divorce from Remonda. According to the Substack, in Remonda’s divorce filing, she accused her ex-husband of introducing their children to Grégoire and allowing them to spend time with her, which he previously agreed he wouldn’t do.

When Bettolli filed in June 2023, he stated that Remonda attempted to retaliate against him due to his relationship with Grégoire, partially by breaking into his computer and “and [threatening] to publish private intimate photos” of Bettolli. Currently, the status of the divorce proceedings is uncertain.

Speaking of uncertain truths… No one is quite sure when Grégoire and Bettolli first met and became a part of each other’s lives. It’s also unclear whether the two are still together or if they were ever in an official relationship at all. They never made a formal announcement or confirmed any relationship.

However, when Grégoire made comments in March 2024 during a speaking engagement at the 30/50 Summit, she made some comments that revealed insight about her most noteworthy past relationship, saying, “Your needs, you shouldn’t expect the minimum. You should expect a maximum of nourishment, presence, and help in your life from the people around you. And we shouldn’t have to hold it all together as women.”

This sounds like a subtle way of throwing shade at her ex, Trudeau! We’re unsure whether Grégoire is single or partnered, but we wish her the best and agree that women deserve the world from their partners.
